Selenium Se 75 decays by electron capture with a physical half-life of approximately 119 days. Maternal Levels. A nursing mother who was 3 months postpartum was given a capsule containing 370 kBq of SeHCAT as a diagnostic test. She collected 3 milk samples daily for 7 days. The effective radiation dose to the infant was 7 microSv over the 7-day period and the radiation dose over a 6-month period of exclusive breastfeeding was estimated to be 17 microSv.[ 1 ] Infant Levels.
